[Theme Music Plays]
Julia: Who Watches the Birdwatchers? A fictional birdwatching podcast. Or is it?
[Theme music fades out. A spooky sounding forest fades in.]
Dracula: Alright, it’s my favorite time of the evening, right before I go out. Let’s see what my children of the night are up to. Ah! Here they come!
[Bats chirp and flap their wings, flying towards the Count.]
Dracula: Hello! Oh my beautiful chiroptera!
[The bats chirp happily.]
Dracula: Oh! Look at that one! And another one! That’s two!
[Dracula laughs like The Count from Sesame Street.]
Dracula: Oh, I’ve got to stop doing that. See how they swoop and fall, oh it’s almost like a little dance!
[Larger bats chirp and call out.]
Dracula: Ah, look! Some old world fruit bats! So cute. I want to pet all of them. And here, we see a horseshoe bat!
[A bat chirps.]
Dracula: Oh look at the mug on that bulldog bat! And take a look at the handsome fellow that is the Wagner’s mustached bat! Oh, ah! Oh, isn’t it scary, we have a ghost faced bat!
[Dracula makes ghost sounds, then laughs.]
Dracula: There we go, get those bugs! Also, I left a little fruit basket out here on the window if anyone wants some. Ah, is that a New Zealand short tailed bat? I’m so glad that sanctuary opened nearby. And even glader that they have such open windows…
[More bats chirp happily.]
Dracula: Listen to their cute little chirps as they go about in big clouds, getting rid of all those pesky bugs. Which I suppose are also children of the night. Do I have a favorite? Of course not! But it’s the bats.
Dracula: Alright, my friends! It is time for me to join you in your symphony of the night. For what are bats but a wonderful pile of cuties!
[Dracula transforms into a bat and flies away. We slowly fade out into the theme music.]
